RE
Curriculum Design
Our RE curriculum (taught as Religion and Worldviews in practice) gives every pupil a safe context for reflection, discussion and enquiry. It asks the big questions life will ask them, supports the development of a rounded, reflective character and helps pupils evaluate why people make different choices. Sequencing draws on strengths of a world religions approach so pupils build secure knowledge of beliefs and practises, while the worldviews frame makes explicit how culture, identity and personal influences shape meaning.
Using Case Studies
We use carefully chosen case studies from across Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and non-religious viewpoints (Humanism) so pupils can compare ideas in depth and see diversity within traditions. Case studies are concrete narratives and examples that make abstract concepts accessible, prompt pupil-led questioning and model respectful discussion. In KS2 case studies include sociological and psychological angles (especially for Humanism) to deepen pupils’ ability to think critically about belief and behaviour.
Resources
Learning is supported by high-quality, mapped resources: Understanding Christianity for core Christian content; Big Questions Big Answers for enquiry and philosophical thinking; Understanding Islam and Understanding Hinduism for accurate representation of those traditions; and curated materials on non-religious worldviews (Humanism) for contrast and critical study. These resources are used alongside local community links and classroom texts to ensure age-appropriate vocabulary, cultural accuracy and meaningful, inclusive learning for all pupils.
